Wolfpack Finishes Day Two At Raleigh Relays

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State men's and women's track and field squad completed the second day of competition at the 2004 adidas Raleigh Relays Saturday at Derr Track. One of the biggest track meets on the east coast comes to an end after two full days of action. On Saturday, the Wolfpack recorded five different NCAA Regional marks.
Freshman Wesley Smith notched a NCAA regional time in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, as he placed third running a 9:05.24. In the 1,500 meters, Andy Smith finished third (3:49.93), Bobby Mack was seventh (3:52.87), and Phillip Stafford ran a 4:12.88. James Rowell placed 14th in the hammer with a toss of 170'02".
Julia Lucas notched a NCAA regional time in the 1,500 meters as she ran a 4:23.96 for third place. In Lucas' other race, she took 13th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:13.16. NC State won the 4x100 meter relay, turning in a NCAA regional time of 45.04. Both Kristina Roth and Claudin Hull ran NCAA regional marks in the 3,000 steeplechase. Roth was fourth in 10:34.95, just ahead of Hull in fifth in 10:34.96. Leslie Jimison was 12th in that same race (11:04.56). Janelle Vadnais and Kelly Brown also ran the 1,500 meters, running a 4:40.36 and 5:13.49.
Kelly Smoke was seventh in the hammer with a toss of 165'08", and Teresa Reed cleared 11'03.75" in the pole vault for 16th and Tabitha Woodard cleared 10'10".
