Hill Posts Top 25 Finish At Southern Highlands Collegiate

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Garry Hill, a freshman on the NC State men's golf team, tied for 24th place at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship on the par 72, 7,440-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club. Hill led the Wolfpack with a two-over-par score of 218. NC State finished 13th out of a strong field of 15 teams that are all ranked in the top 60, including 12 in the top 20. Jerry Richardson and Wesley Horne both shot two-over-par in the final round.
Richardson finished tied for 28th with a four-over total and Horne tied for 47th at nine-over-par. Fernando Mechereffe birdied six of the final 18 holes to card a 75. He tied for 52nd overall with a 10-over total. Stephen Lewton was also three-over-par on Sunday, but he tied for 67th place with a final score that was 15-over-par.
Arizona State finished 16-under to win the tournament and Camilo Villegas from Florida was the individual medalist at 11-under ( 67-69-69=205).
The Wolfpack returns to action next weekend at the Schenkel E-Z Go Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga. Complete results from the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship are available at www.golfstat.com.
