Fernando Mechereffe leads NC State with three over after the first round at Sawgrass

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The NC State men's golf team opened its spring season Sunday with its first of three rounds at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Sawgrass Country Club (par 72) in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. After 18 holes, the Wolfpack sits in 10th place in the 18-team field. Fernando Mechereffe leads the Wolfpack with a three-over score of 75, which puts him in a tie for 16th overall.

South Carolina, even par, jumped out to the early lead on a challenging field that includes nine top-25. Round two begins tomorrow morning and the tournament concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
