NC State head volleyball coach Mary Byrne announced the addition of Georgette Crawford to her assistant coaching staff. Crawford brings to NC State several years of coaching experience. Most recently, she was the assistant coach at North Carolina A&T University, where her duties included helping recruit, coordinating practices, conditioning and workouts, scout opponents, etc. Prior to her time with the Aggies, Crawford worked for the American Volleyball Coaches Association, after serving as head coach at High Point University for four seasons.
"I'm very happy to have Georgette as a member of our coaching staff," said Byrne. "She was a great player in college and has several years of experience as a coach. It is that large amount of valuable experience that I think will definetly be a help to our players. I'm just very happy to have Georgette with us as we head into a new season of play."
A graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, Crawford was a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference First Team selection in 1992, 1993 and 1994, helping lead her team to a conference championship in 1992. She also earned AVCA All-Region honors as a junior and senior. She received her bachelor's degree in business administration in 1994, and then earned a master's in business administration in 1996, followed by another master's in education, math and computer science, and computer science in 1999, all from California University of Pennsylvania. Crawford was later inducted into the 2003 California University Hall of Fame.
She has also been a member of the Jamaica Women's Senior National Team, where she has such honors as best scorer and best hitter in the 2000 Caribbean Championships (in Barbados), best hitter in the 1998 Caribbean Championships (in Martinique), and MVP and best hitter in the 1996 Caribbean Championships (in the U.S. Virgin Islands).
