
Gymnastics Tops Best Road Score

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The NC State gymnastics team posted its highest road score of the season, and sixth highest on the road of all-time, in notching a score of 195.725 Friday night at North Carolina. The host No. 20 Tar Heels set a new school record with their 197.325, and Wolfpack (8-9) fell just shy of their overall season high in the two-team meet. NC State set a new score record with a team score of 49.325 on vault, and also set a season-high of 49.050 on beam.
On vault, current EAGL Specialist of the Week freshman Rachel Katz set a new personal-best with her score of 9.95. Close behind was senior Molly Pennington, notching her sixth career score of 9.9 on vault for a fourth place showing. Sophomore Kylah Bachman scored a 9.85 to finish in seventh, while senior Cheryl Potacco earned a 9.825. Seniors Marlyn Madey and Leah Sabo each scored a 9.8 as well.
Over on bars, the Wolfpack was able to only count two scores over 9.8. Bachman was NC State's top finisher with her 9.825 for fifth place. Potacco had a strong showing with a 9.8 for seventh. Katz scored a 9.775.
Sabo won her first beam title of the year with a 9.875. Bachman and freshman Amanda Jones each notched scores of 9.85 to tie for third. Junior Andrea Petrocelli once again turned in a strong performance, this meet with a 9.825 for seventh.
Senior Alison Bundy turned in the Pack's top performance on floor with a career-best score of 9.9 for fourth. It was Bundy's second straight meet with a 9.9 on floor. Sabo finished strong with a 9.85 for sixth place. Bachman and Madey each scored a 9.8 and tied for eighth.
Missing two regulars from the line-up, NC State had three competitors in the all-around for the second straight meet. Madey was the top finisher with her score of 39.075, followed by Bachman (39.025) and Sabo (38.825).
The Wolfpack will now have three of the final four regular season meets at home, starting next Friday, February 27, against George Washington.
