Limited Track Squads Travel to UNC

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State track and field squads took the quick trip over to Chapel Hill, N.C. this weekend, and competed in the UNC Invitational. Due to the bad weather this past week, the squads practice schedule was thrown off, and only the sprinters and throwers competed this weekend.
James Rowell won the weight throw, with a season-best heave of 60'10.75". Also in the weight throw, Chris Crawford finished fifth (49'04.50"). Crawford was also sixth in the shot put (47'05.75"), with Mitchell Pope taking fifth (56'01") in that same event. In the pole vault, both Eric Hoverstad and Steve Taylor cleared 15'07" to tie for fourth.
TJ Giwa saw his first action of the indoor season, and finished ninth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.94. Also in that race, Matt Minnick was 22nd (7.27). In the 400 meters, Monterrio Adas took fifth (49.80), Omarr Wells was 11th (51.91), and Jeff Baird was 15th (52.47). In the 60 hurdles, it was Kevin Davis in 23rd (9.02) and Antwan Graves close behind in 24th (9.04).
On the women's side, Brie Ward posted two top-10 finishes in the throws. Ward placed eighth in the weight throw (45'10") and ninth in the shot put (38'02"). Teresa Reed took fourth in the pole vault clearing 11'07.75", and Tabitha Woodard was ninth (10'08"). In the high jump, Laila Thomas and Joann Jackson each posted top marks of 5'04.25", and tied for fourth.
In the 60meters, Courtney Patterson finished third (7.57) and Joya Rodgers was eighth (7.73). Nasheena Quick was fifth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.81, and Georgia Davis was fifth in the 800 meters with her time of 2:19.84.
