Q & A with Megan Dalthorp

RALEIGH, N.C. - After leading her high school to four consecutive state championships, freshman Megan Dalthorp signed on with the Wolfpack to join head coach Lisa Navas' softball program in time for their second year of competition. At Beaverton High, Dalthorp enjoyed an illustrious career, amassing a 0.66 ERA and collecting first team all-league pitcher honors in 2001 and 2003. A native of Beaverton, Ore., Dalthorp recently sat down with GoPack.com and offered Pack softball fans a first opportunity to get to know her.
Q: What is your full name?
A: "Megan Lynne Dalthorp."
Q: Where are you from originally?
A: "I'm from Beaverton, Ore."
Q: Do your teammates have a nickname for you?
A: "They call me Megs."
Q: What position do you play?
A: "I'm a pitcher, but I also play in the outfield."
Q: What are you studying at State?
A: "I am majoring in psychology."
Q: Why did you choose to come to NC State?
A: "I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and experience life on the east coast."
Q: Question and answer sessions always wind up with favorites. Who is your favorite musician?
A: "I listen to a lot of John Mayer and Jessica Simpson. I really like both of them."
Q: How about movie?
A: "Love and Basketball. It's a great movie."
Q: What was the last movie you watched?
A: "Eurotrip."
Q: What was the last book you read?
A: "Nicolas Sparks' "Nights in Rodanthe."
Q: Favorite television show?
A: "The O.C. I always watch The O.C."
Q: Are there any TV shows that you wouldn't admit to watching?
A: "Probably Dr. Phil."
Q: What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
A: "Balboa Island, Calif. The beaches are beautiful, the weather is warm and the boys are cute!"
Q: Everyone has a favorite place on campus. What's yours?
A: "Case Dining Hall because of the food!"
Q: Let's talk about sports. Do you have a favorite pro sports team?
A: "Of course. I stick with the Seattle Mariners."
Q: Favorite athlete?
A: "Jenny Finch."
Q: Back to getting personal. Who is someone that you admire a lot?
A: "I would have to say my mom. I really admire and respect her."
Q: Do you have any big fears?
A: "I have a fear of not being successful."
Q: What do you like about NC State?
A: "I think that the campus is beautiful and I love the laid back atmosphere."
Q: What do you like about the softball team?
A: "Everyone loves the game and the team is so much fun to hang out with."
Q: What is something most people don't know about you?
A: "I pitch right handed, but I am really left handed."
Q: Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?
A: "Nope. I don't have any superstitions."
