All-ACC standout Conor Taylor is in Chattanooga, Tenn. Oct. 7-10 as he competes in the Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championship. The senior from Dublin, Ireland is one of 64 players selected for the main draw as he made the field based on his preseason Intercolelgiate Tennis Association (ITA) ranking of 36. Taylor is the first Wolfpack player since Roberto Bracone (1996-99) to make it into the main draw of the ITA All-American.
The tournament will take place at the Champion's Club and Wolfpack assistant coach Matt Halfpenny will travel with Taylor to the event.
"This is obviously a tremendous opportunity for Conor and for NC State tennis to be represented at the ITA All-American," Halfpenny said. "We are building the type of program and bringing in kids that, with the type of work ethic that Conor exudes, will have the same opportunity to make it into the ITA All-American Championships."
Taylor, who was an all-ACC selection last season after posting a 5-3 mark at No. 1 singles, has gone 1-2 this fall at the Baylor Invitational, where he was the No. 1 seed, and he has also posted a 3-1 mark in doubles with teammate Nick Cavaday.
NC State will send three individuals to the USC Fall Invitational next weekend, as Darragh Rowan, David Rozek and Andre Iriarte travel to Columbia, S.C.
