Wolfpack Men Compete in Tar Heel Invitational

NC State men's swimming won both the 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay at the 28th Tar Heel Invitational on Friday night, Oct. 29. Relay's play an important role in dual meets and especially in conference, and so far in 2004-05, the men have proven they are up to the challenge. Its time of 1:23.46 in the 200 free relay was the top mark in the ACC, while the 200 medley relay time of 1:32.99 is currently the third fastest in the conference. NC State also holds the top 400 medley relay time, set Oct. 15 against Va. Tech.
Cullen Jones anchored the final leg of the 200 freestyle relay, swimming an amazing 19.87 split, the fastest time in the conference this season. Jones would finish second in the 50 freestyle later in the evening, swimming a 20.91.
Scott Dettloff (21.68) was fifth in the 50, with Kevin Velleca (21.69) finishing sixth in the event just behind Dettloff.
The men's and women's swimming and diving team will host Duke in Raleigh at 1 pm on Saturday, Oct. 30.
