The NC State women's swimming and diving team will attempt to bounce back after an opening season loss to conference foe Virginia Tech on Oct. 15. The Wolfpack (0-1 overall, 0-1 ACC) will host non-conference foes Campbell and Gardner Webb tonight at 6 pm at the Willis Casey Natatorium. Lindsey Barwegen and Molly Culberson will lead the women's team in action, as both posted top times in the ACC against Virginia Tech. Laura Cutler and Jess Koenig were impressive as well and are listed this week among the ACC's best.
Barwegen won three events against the Hokies, taking first in the 500 and 1000 yard freestyle events and the 200 yard butterfly. Her time in the 200 yard butterfly (2:07.16) was the seventh fastest in the conference this season.
NC State swept the top-3 of the 200 butterfly as Cutler finished second and Catherine Parks finished third. Cutler's time of 2:07.78 was the 10th best mark in the conference.
Molly Culberson won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions against Va Tech, and her 3-meter score of 305.62 is the second best score in the ACC. Her 1-meter score of 260.70 is fourth.
The women return to action on Saturday, Oct. 30 as ACC rival Duke travels to Raleigh to take on both the Wolfpack women and men. The men compete in the Tar Heel Invitational this Friday, Oct. 29 at 5 pm.
