NC State Women's Swimming Defeats Campbell and Gardner-Webb

NC State women's swimming improved to 2-1 overall on the season after defeating Campbell and Gardner-Webb in a dual meet Oct. 28 at the Willis R. Casey Natatorium in Raleigh, N.C. The Wolfpack downed Gardner-Webb by a margin of 83-55, while soundly defeating Campbell 126-12. Lindsay Barwegen won the 500 and 1000 free in the meet, as she improves to a combined record of 4-0 in those events this season, winning both against Va. Tech on Oct. 15. Laura Cutler, Halle Kiehlmier and Jess Koenig each won a pair of events as well as the Wolfpack rolled.
Barwegen posted a strong time of 10:16.76 in the 1000 free, good for ninth best in the conference this season. Her 500 free time of 5:03.98 was good for first in the meet.
Cutler was also impressive in the water, sweeping the 100 and 200 butterfly events. She swam an impressive 2:05.75 in the 200 fly, the sixth fastest time in the event for the ACC on the season. Her 100 fly time of just missed the top-10 in the conference.
Kiehlmier was equally strong in the water in the breaststroke, winning the 100 and 200 breast. She swam a 1:07.05 in the 100 and a 2:26.18 in the 200.
Jess Koenig was the fourth Wolfpack swimmer to win two events, posting a win in the 200 backstroke and the 200 IM. She bettered her season best in the 200 IM, dropping over one half second off of her time to post the eighth fastest time in the conference with a 2:07.58. She swam a 2:07.07 in the 200 yard back to take that event as well.
The women return to the pool as they host Duke on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 1 pm.
