Durham, N.C. - The NC State men's soccer fell to William & Mary 2-1 Sunday afternoon in the Duke Adidas Tournament hosted by Duke this weekend. The Wolfpack (1-2) gave up two goals to the Tribe (2-1) in the first 20 minutes of the contest, but outplayed William & Mary throughout the second half but were unable to score a game-tying goal. Sophomores Aaron King and John Queeley were each named to the All-Tournament team.
William and Mary jumped out early when Phil Hucles headed in a direct kick from Bryan Hinkle at the 13:37 mark. Just over five minutes later, the Tribe struck again with Graham Albert heading in a cross from Patrick Scherder. The Wolfpack went into the half down 2-0.
From the start of the season half NC State pressed more players forward and created many more scoring chances then in the first half. The Wolfpack hot pay dirt in the 75th minutes. Queeley dribbled down the right side of the field and found King inside the William & Mary penalty box, who notched his third goal of the season.
NC State's Jorge Gonzalez recorded three saves for the Wolfpack, as NC State was outshot 10-9.
NC State will return to action this Wednesday against Gardner-Webb at 4:00 p.m. at SAS Soccer Stadium.
