NC State's men's golf team, along with every team in the field, struggled through a ninety minute rain delay, then finished their round on a soaked course, forcing high scores as only five golfers shot-even-par, and only two were below-par. For NC State, Fernando Mechereffe and Stephen Lewton are both tied for 22nd with each firing a 77.
Justin Walters fired his worst round of the spring with a 78, though he did fire a team best 37 on the back nine. The senior Hogan Award candidate is in 30th. Fellow senior Jason Moon is in 37th with an 80, while sophomore Rodney Thomas shot an 88 and is in 45.
The teams return to the course, and what looks to be beautiful, dry weather on Saturday for the second round of the ACC Championship. The tough field is loaded with six of the top 30 teams nationally.
