NC State Hosts 2003 Adidas Raleigh Relays

Raleigh, N.C. - The 2003 Adidas Raleigh Relays will be held this Friday and Saturday, March 28-29, at NC State's Paul H. Derr Track. More than 3,000 athletes representing approximately 110 teams will compete in one of the premiere outdoor track meets of the season. Starting Friday at 10:00 a.m. will be a section of the men's 10,000 meters and in the field events the men's discus and the women's shot put.
Events begin at 10:00 on Friday with the men's discus and women's shot put. On the track, preliminaries will be held Friday in the hurdles and 100 meter events, with finals being held in the 400 meters, 400 hurdles, 4x1,500 relays, sprint medley relays, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meter distance races. Other field event finals on Friday include the shot put, high jump, long jump and pole vault.
The one change this year from prior years is the running of the distance events on Friday. There will be a section of the men's 10,000 meters beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a section of the women's 5,000 meters and two men's 5,000 meters. The seeded distance races will still be held at the end of the Friday events, starting with the women's 5,000 meters at 6:55 p.m.
Saturday's competition will begin at 10:00 with the 3,000 meter steeplechase, men's hammer and men's javelin. All events on Saturday will be finals, including the 100, 200, 800, 1,500 and all relays and field events.
The relays, sponsored by Adidas, are open to the public and there is no admission charge.
