Track Sends Four Individuals to Indoor NCAA Championships

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State track & field team will be sending four athletes to compete in four events this weekend at the 2003 Indoor NCAA Championships being held at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.
Junior Kristin Price will run in the women's 5,000 meters, as she is the seventh seed with a top time of 16:08.25 this season. Price captured first place at the ACC Championships in the 5,000 meters earlier this season. At last year's NCAA Championships, Price won All-American honors in both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters with her 10th and seventh place finishes respectively.
The NC State men's track squad will be sending three members to Arkansas. Freshman Jesse Williams is the men's highest seed. Williams is seeded fifth in the high jump with a top mark of 7'03" this season. Williams recorded his top mark at the ACC Championships with a second place finish, and in the process set a new school record. Williams recorded three NCAA provisional marks this season.
Junior James Rowell will compete in the weight throw. Rowell is the 14th seed with a top heave of 67'10.50" this season. Rowell was crowned ACC Champion in the weight throw just a couple weeks back, and he has recorded five first-place finishes in the weight throw this season.
Senior David Patterson is the 15th seed in the men's 5,000 meters. Patterson set a new school record when he ran a 13:56.54 earlier this season in a meet at Arkansas, he then followed that up with a third place finish at the ACC Championships.
Both the men's and women's 5,000 meters finals will be run on Friday. The women's race will be at 7:20 p.m., and the men's race will be held at 8:00 p.m. The men's weight throw will take place Friday afternoon, and the men's high jump will take place Saturday afternoon.
