Navy Sinks NC State Wrestling 27-16

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy won four matches in a row in the upper weight classifications to defeat NC State 27-16 in college wrestling Saturday night. The Wolfpack, which lost for the second night in a row, fell to 5-7 on the season. Navy, which also defeated North Carolina 21-10 earlier in the day, improved to 7-6.
The match began with the 165-pound bout, and the Wolfpack's Dustin Kawa extended his winning streak to 11 matches with a 10-6 decision over Frank Edwards. Kawa, now 11-1 at 165, is 15-3 on the season overall.
After Kawa left the mat, the Midshipmen reeled off four wins in a row to take control of the match. Luke Lazzo pinned Courtney Bird at 174, Thayer Pexton edged Jon Godwin 10-7 at 184, Jim Letchford won a 20-5 technical fall over Matt Gulliver, and Tanner Garrett won a major decision over Leroy Harris at heavyweight to give Navy an 18-3 lead in the team scoring.
George Cintron got the Pack back on the winning track with a 5-2 decision over Navy's Sam Gray. The win was Cintron's 11th in a row and improved his mark on the season to 14-4. Matt Gulosh then put the match out of reach for Navy by pinning Dan Pacitti at the 6:07 mark of the 133-pound match.
Ryan McCallum pinned Nate Gulosh at 4:29 at 141 pounds, and Jake Giamoni won his fifth match in a row, a 15-5 major decision over Pat Lukanich, to improve to 12-8. Navy's Brett Harmon wrapped up the evening with a 7-5 decision over Bryant Reames at 157.
