Terrapins Sweep Wolfpack Volleyball, 3-0

Three players finished with double figures in kills for Maryland as the Terrapins rolled to a 3-0 victory over the NC State volleyball team Thursday night at Reynolds Coliseum. Maryland took the match by the scores of 30-13, 30-18, 30-25. With the loss, the Wolfpack is now 7-21 overall, 0-13 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while the Terps improve to 22-5, 11-2 in conference play.
The Wolfpack was paced by sophomore outside hitters Adeola Kosoko and Kayla Ragan, who each finished the match with five kills. Junior middle blocker Paige Gilliam tacked on another four kills off a perfect 1.000 attack percentage, while sophomore Casey Wyatt and junior Melanie Rowe also recorded four kills. Setters Melissa Rabe and Crystal Shannon dished out 14 and 13 assists respectively, while senior libero Caroline Frede led the team in digs with eight.
Leading the Terps was outside hitters Lynnsy Jones and Maria DiLivio, who each totaled 15 kills on the match. Middle blocker Rachel Wagener also came up big offensively, finishing with 10 kills off a team-best .667 attack percentage. Setter Aimee Huddleston tallied a match-high 51 assists on the night, while libero Fiona DeFreitas came up big defensively with a team-best 11 digs. DiLivio and outside hitter Sarah Treadwell also picked up double-digits in digs with 10 a piece.
The Wolfpack will remain home and host Virginia on Friday night at Reynolds Coliseum. That match will be Senior Day for NC State's two seniors, libero Caroline Frede and setter Crystal Shannon, and will begin at 7 p.m.
