TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - NC State women's soccer fell in defeat on the road to No. 14 Florida State in a hard fought 1-0 ACC battle. NC State (8-7-1 overall, 1-5 ACC) rallied behind seven solid saves from sophomore Kim Selz and three team saves, before the game winning goal in the 61st minute gave the Seminoles the win.
Selz matched a career-high with seven saves, a mark she set on Oct. 19 in a 1-0 win over No. 19 Maryland. The Wolfpack defense saved three other Florida State chances, but it wasn't enough as the Seminoles prevailed.
The match was scoreless until the 61st minute when defensive back Kelly Rowland had her throw-in deflected ahead by FSU midfielder Camie Bybee. Another midfielder, Amber Tollefson finished the play for the game winner past Selz.
Wolfpack forwards Erin Griswold, a junior, and Lindsey Underwood, a senior captain, each tallied a shot for NC State, as did midfielders Anna Helenius, a junior, and Adrienne Barnes, a Wolfpack senior.
NC State and head coach Laura Kerrigan will host Howard at 3 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The match will be played on the Method Road Soccer Stadium in Raleigh, N.C.
