The NC State volleyball team will host Atlantic Coast Conference foes Wake Forest and Duke this weekend at Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack will take on the Demon Deacons Friday night at 7 p.m. and the Blue Devils on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
NC State's (6-14, 0-6) offense is headed up by freshman outside hitter Julia Reis and junior middle blocker Maya Mapp. Reis leads the team in kills with 222, while her 210 digs is good for second on the team. Meanwhile, Mapp has managed to rack up 169 kills of her own, and leads the team with 71 total blocks thus far. Fellow middle blocker Paige Gilliam has also stepped it up defensively for the Wolfpack, tallying 62 total blocks in 57 games.
The Deacons come into Friday's match with an overall record of 14-5, 4-3 in conference play after suffering a 3-1 defeat to North Carolina. Leading the way for Wake Forest is outside hitter Valerie Rydberg, who has 240 kills off a .257 attack percentage. Right behind her is middle blocker Christy Williams with 197 kills and a team-best .383 attack percentage. Setter Erin Borhart is on pace to break the 1,000 assist mark on the season, as she already has 813.
The Blue Devils are led by the combination of outside hitter Tassy Rufai and middle blocker Krista Dill, who enter this weekend with 211 and 194 kills respectively. Dill has also proven to be a solid performer on the other side of the net for Duke as well, as she has a team-best 106 total-blocks thus far. Meanwhile, setter Stephanie Istvan has dished out 429 assists to go with 226 digs defensively, and fellow setter Arielle Linderman has given head coach Jolene Nagel added confidence at the position, as she has 349 assists as well.
