NC State Soccer Falls To Gamecocks, 2-1

DURHAM, N.C. - Jordan Quinn headed in a deflection off a free kick with 20:01 remaining in the second half to lift South Carolina to a 2-1 victory over NC State in the first round of the Duke/adidas Soccer Classic, played at the Duke Soccer Stadium.
The winning goal was the only score of the second half. The Gamecocks took the early 1-0 lead on a Ricky Quest goal off a rebound at the 20:20 mark of the contest. NC State tied the score at a goal apiece when Phillip Herndl scored on a rebound off a corner kick.
South Carolina, ranked 12th in the latest Soccer News poll, outshot NC State 18-5, and had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
