The Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Women's Golf Team was announced Tuesday by Commissioner John Swofford. The 50-member team was voted on by the six league institutions that sponsor the sport as decided by the league's 50th Anniversary Committee.
Duke led all league schools with 23 members on the Golden Anniversary team while North Carolina was second with 12 honorees. Wake Forest had 10 players selected, followed by Florida State with three and NC State with two.
Prior to reinstatement, NC State fielded a women's golf team from 1980-1986. In 2000, Page Marsh was hired to rebuild the program to a competitive state. In just two years, Marsh has led her squad to the NCAA East Regional and has proven that NC State is ready for the competition the ACC has to offer. Marsh, who was a standout player at UNC-Chapel Hill from 1982-85, was named to the 50th anniversary squad.
Alumni of the NC State women's golf program named to the anniversary team include:
Jamie Bronson, NC State (1982-1985)
All-ACC honoree in 1985 ... NC State's season stroke average leader at 77.7 in 1983.
Leslie Brown, NC State (1983-1986)
Owns five of the top nine lowest rounds in school history.
