Wolfpack Places Six on Golden Anniversary Volleyball Team

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Thursday, the 50th Anniversary Volleyball Team. The 53-member team was voted on by the nine league institutions as decided by the league's 50th Anniversary Committee.
NC State had a total of six players selected on the Golden Anniversary Team, which was tied for third most, along with Georgia Tech and Maryland. Duke led all schools with 10 members, followed by Clemson and North Carolina with seven honorees each. Florida State had five former players selected, followed by Virginia (4) and Wake Forest with two.
Below is a list of the Wolfpack players on the 50th Anniversary Team:
Melinda Dudley (1985-88):
Dudley helped lead the Wolfpack to a 21-9 record and an ACC Championship in 1987. She was later named to the All-ACC first-team, as well as being voted as the ACC Player of the Year that very year. Dudley currently ranks third all-time at NC State in career digs with 1.516, second in assists with 4,750, ninth in service aces with 138, and tenth in total blocks with 277.
Laura Kimbrell (1995-98):
Kimbrell was an All-ACC All-Rookie team selection in 1995. The all-time career leader in kills at NC State, Kimbrell was also named the Wolfpack MVP as a senior, as well as being an All-ACC second-team honoree in 1998. She currently ranks second in digs (1,540), fourth in career games played (488), sixth in service aces (189), and eighth in total blocks (298).
Patty Lake (1984-88):
Lake was named to the All-ACC second-team as a sophomore and junior and to the All-ACC first-team as a senior for NC State. She currently ranks first in career service aces (304), second in career blocks (454), eighth in career digs (1,153), and ninth all-time in career kills (1,126).
Stacey Schaeffer (1978-81):
Schaeffer was named to the AIAW Region II All-Tournament team in 1980 and 1981. She also received NCAIAW All-Region II team and NCAIAW All-State team honors in 1981. Schaeffer went on to be named to the NCAIAW All-Tournament team in 1980 and 1981.
Susan Schafer (1978-81):
Schafer finished her career at NC State being named the team's MVP all four years. She was an All-ACC first-team selection in 1981, as well as a member of the AIAW Region II All-Tournament team in 1979 and 1981. Schafer was also named to the NCAIAW All-Tournament team in 1978, 79, and 81 and was honored as the NCAIAW All-Tournament MVP and selected to the NCAIAW All-State team as a senior. She currently ranks fifth all-time at NC State for her single season record for service aces with 90 in 1981.
Volire Tisdale (1984-88):
Tisdale was named as the ACC Player of the Year as a senior, as well as the team's MVP. In 1987, she was selected to the All-ACC first-team and was named the ACC Tournament MVP. Tisdale currently ranks second all-time at NC State in career kills with 1,598, fourth in digs (1,452), sixth in total number of games played (461), and ninth in blocks (284). She also holds the single season record for number of kills with 585 during the 1988 season, while ranking fifth all time in the number of digs for a single season with 466 in 1987.
