Track & Field In Action at UNC & Clemson

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The NC State track & field squads competed in two different meets this past weekend. Some athletes were in Chapel Hill competing in the UNC Last Chance Meet, while others were in Clemson at the Orange & Purple Classic.
Sophomore Felicia Fant had a successful day at Clemson, winning the 100 meters with a season-best time of 11.87, and taking second in the 200 meters with a time of 24.59. Senior Katie Bolac also brought home a first place finish from Clemson, she won the pole vault with her fifth NCAA Provisional mark of the season, clearing 12'07.50". Kristen Pace was second in the high jump with a season-best mark of 5'07". Freshman April Golsby was fifth in the high jump (5'03").
At the Carolina Last Chance Meet for the women, freshman Ebony Foster brought home a first place finish in the 100 hurdles running a 14.04 in the finals. In the prelims, she posted a time of 13.89. In the 800 meters in a close race, Karen Medlin placed fourth (2:21.63), followed by teammate Karen Sykes in fifth (2:22.27). Beth Kraft was sixth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:41.47, and Rebecca Hoover was ninth in that same race (4:51.21).
At Clemson for the men's team, senior Joseph Brent took third in the 200 meters (21.12) and was 10th in the 100 meters (10.96). In the 400 meters it was Derrick High in fifth (47.44), followed closely by Tyrone Dozier in sixth (47.76). In the pole vault, freshman Eric Hoverstad set a new personal-best by clearing 16'02.75" and taking second. David Kessler was fourth in the pole vault (15'09").
At the Carolina Last Chance Meet for the men, Adam McGugan was first in his heat and 11th overall in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.47. Devin Swann was third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:50.77. Chris Dugan ran in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and was fourth (10:25.20). In the triple jump, Jason Vieira placed sixth with a leap of 46'08.25".
