Wolfpack Volleyball Looking to Surprise Teams at ACC Tournament

With the regular season over, the NC State volleyball team now travels to Atlanta, Ga. for the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. The Wolfpack, which finished with a 3-30 overall record, 0-16 in conference play, will be seeded number nine in the bracket and will face common foe Virginia in the play-in game on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
NC State will look to grab its first conference victory of the season and advance to play No. 1 North Carolina off the performances of sophomore middle blocker Maya Mapp and senior outside hitter Rebecca Anderson. Mapp has a team-best 330 kills to her credit heading into the tournament, as well as a .291 attack percentage. She along with fellow middle blocker Sarah Ensminger have combined for 169 total blocks on the year. Meanwhile, Anderson has exhibited her senior leadership a lot lately and enters into Thursday's match with 205 kills, 170 digs and 36 total blocks. Sophomore setter Lindi Sheppard has dished out 1013 assists on the season as well.
As for the Cavaliers (8-24, 2-14), four players are featured with 200 kills or more thus far. Paige Davis leads the team in kills with 318 and digs with 314. Simona Kuipers and Alexis Geocaris have been key for Virginia defensively, recording 82 and 94 total blocks on the season, while also tallying 216 and 212 kills respectively.
