Wolfpack Volleyball Falls To Maryland, 3-0

Outside hitters Lynnsy Jones and Carey Brennan finished with 17 and 11 kills respectively to help lead Maryland to a 3-0 win over NC State in volleyball action Tuesday night at Reynolds Coliseum. The Terrapins won by the scores of 30-19, 30-28, 30-19.
Sophomore middle blocker Maya Mapp led the way for the Wolfpack, finishing with a team-high 11 kills and a .333 attack percentage, while senior Rebecca Anderson tacked on eight kills of her own to go with six digs. Libero Caroline Frede came up big for NC State defensively, notching a team-high 13 digs, while setters Lindi Sheppard and Crystal Shannon split time, dishing out 23 and eight assists respectively.
To go along with her 11 kills, Brennan also recorded a team-high 13 digs and a solo block, while fellow outside hitter Sarah Treadwell finished with double-digits in kills as well, tallying 10 on the night to go with her 12 digs and two block assists. Setter Lindsay Davey recorded 37 assists and 13 digs for the Terps.
With the loss, the Wolfpack drops to 3-29, 0-14 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while the Terrapins advance to 18-12, 7-8 in conference play. NC State will finish out the 2002 season at Reynolds Coliseum this weekend with conference foes Florida State on Friday night and Virginia on Saturday night. Both matches are set for 7 p.m. and Saturday's match will be Senior Night for the Wolfpack's lone senior Anderson.
