Men's Golf Takes Fifth At Nelson Invitational

Senior Justin Walters continues to etch his name into the Wolfpack golf record books. The South African native fired a 66 in the final round to tie for second at the Nelson Invitational in Stanford, CA. His three-day-total of 202 broke the Wolfpack record for lowest tournament total. The previous record was a 204 shot by Chris Mundorf at the 2001 NCAA East Regional. The senior narrowly missed his third career victory by one-stroke. As a team, NC State placed fifth with a final round 287 to close with a three-day-team total of 859.
Senior Jason Moon fired an even-par 71 in the final round to finish at even-par for the tournament with a 213. Rodney Thomas played strong and finished in a tie for 37th. The sophomore from Lexington, NC posted a final round 73 to finish seven-over-par with a 220. Thomas Strange fired a final round 79 to finish +13 and tied for 68th with a 226. Kyle Tucker, in his first career tournament, played amiably with a 79th place showing and a 229 for the tournament.
