The NC State volleyball team faces its toughest home match all season when No. 11 North Carolina comes to Reynolds Coliseum Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The Tar Heels have only lost one match, coming to then No. 13 Minnesota, but the Wolfpack is hungry for its first conference win and will look to be a road block in North Carolina's goal of a perfect conference season.
Leading NC State (3-22, 0-7 ACC) offensively is sophomore middle blocker Maya Mapp. Mapp, who ranks sixth in the conference in hitting percentage with a .309 average, is the Wolfpack's number one attacker, recording 247 kills thus far on the season. Fellow middle blocker Sarah Ensminger is second on the team in kills with 179, while also adding a team-best 0.92 blocks per game. Setter Lindi Sheppard comes into tonight's match in seventh position in the league in assists with 776 on the year.
Meanwhile, the Tar Heels (20-1, 7-0), as a team, leads the ACC in digs with an average of 16.97 a game. Senior outside hitter Laura Greene leads the team in kills with 282 for an average of 3.97 a game, the third-best mark in the conference. Coming up big defensively for UNC is 6-1 outside hitter Holly Strauss, who has 77 total blocks on the season.
Tuesday's match marks a short stay for the Wolfpack before heading back on the road to face Florida State on Friday.
