Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought contest to #23 Duke 3-1 Sunday afternoon at SAS Soccer Stadium in Cary, N.C. After falling behind by a goal NC State (4-8, 0-5 ACC) evened the score late in the first half, but the Blue Devils (8-3-1, 3-1 ACC) would score the game's final two goals.
Duke jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with a goal in the first five minutes of the contest. Trevor Perea took a corner kick that bounced around in the NC State box. Duke's Ian Carey collected the rebound and scored his first collegiate goal from about 18-yards out at the 4:06 mark.
NC State would answer with their own goal to tie up the score. Freshman Bryant Salter took a throw in deep in Duke territory and found Federico Peria about 25 yards out. Peria dribbled into the Duke box and crossed the ball to Aaron King who netted his team leading seventh goal of the year at the 31:35 mark.
Duke would score the eventual game winner less than five minutes later. After a NC State foul, Duke's Perea converted the direct kick from 25 yards out at the 36:06 mark. Duke held a 2-1 lead going into the half.
