Ohio University Stops NC State Wrestling, 26-12

RALEIGH, N.C. - Ohio University won the last four matches, two by fall and one by technical fall, to overcome a six-point deficit and roar past NC State 26-12 in college wrestling Saturday night at Reynolds Coliseum.
With the win, the Bobcats improved to 3-7-1 on the season. NC State, which defeated Maryland 24-13 earlier in the day in an Atlantic Coast Conference match, fell to 5-5 with the loss to Ohio.
NC State won four of the first six matches to take a 12-6 lead, and appeared to be in control of the match. At 157, the first bout of the evening, the Wolfpack's Pierre Pryor (17-5) defeated Ed Willis (4-10) by an 8-4 decision, and Dustin Kawa (12-6) decisioned Luke Moore (13-5) 4-3 at 174 to give NC State a 6-0 lead. The Bobcats came back to tie the match at 6-6 when Mark Shrout (5-3) took a 9-7 decision over Jon Godwin (8-10) at 184 and Joel Weimer (9-6) beat Jason Gore (8-10) 14-7 at 197.
NC State regained the momentum when heavyweight Ngozi Collins (12-5) got a late takedown to defeat Jeremiah Beltran (11-11) 9-6 and George Cintron (6-6) handed Michael Caruso (5-10) an 11-5 defeat at 125 pounds. That gave the Wolfpack a 12-6 lead with four matches remaining, but the Bobcats had complete control of the match from that point on.
Anthony Carrizales (14-7) promptly tied the bout by pinning NC State 133-pounder Clarence Davis (0-5) at 4:07. Jon Spires (9-5) gave the Bobcats the lead at 15-12 with a 4-3 decision over Jake Giamoni (10-10) at 141. Seventh-ranked Jake Percival (17-2) got a 24-8 technical fall over Reuben Ledbetter (0-3) at 149 pounds to clinch the team victory, and 16th-ranked Ryan Smith pinned Kevin Gabrielson at 2:45 in the 157-pound bout to give Ohio a final margin of 26-12 in the team scoring.
