Wake Forest Sweeps NC State Volleyball

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team swept NC State on Saturday night at Winston-Salem's Reynolds Gymnasium, 30-23, 30-19 and 30-15, sending the Wolfpack to its second three-game loss in as many nights.
Wake Forest, which stopped a three-match losing streak with the victory, improved to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. NC State dropped to 5-6 overall, 1-3 in the ACC.
Seniors Margaret Davidson and Trina Maso de Moya led the Wake Forest attack with 16 kills apiece. Maso de Moya added four service aces and 16 digs. Both had attack percentages above the .400 mark, with Davidson at .480 and Maso de Moya at .419. Wake Forest hit .331 as a team to the Wolfpack's .064.
Freshman Melanie Rowe led NC State with six kills. Sophomore Caroline Frede had a team-high 11 digs. Seniors Alison Kreager and Charece Williams had four kills each for the Wolfpack. Kreager added nine digs. Freshman setter Lindi Sheppard directed the Wolfpack offense with 14 assists, four kills and seven digs.
NC State will return to action on Tuesday, October 2, with a 7 p.m. match vs. Georgia Tech at Reynolds Coliseum.
