RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State volleyball team reached out and gave back to the community on Sunday, August 19, taking part in a volleyball clinic at SAS Institute in the Research Triangle Park.
The clinic, part of SAS's ongoing Kids Sports/Activity Program, attracted more than 20 youngsters aged 4 to 12 years old. The Wolfpack players and coaching staff served as instructors, teaching the youngsters the basics of the game of volleyball, including passing, setting, serving and attacking.
SAS Institute started the Kids Sports/Activity Program in order to introduce young people to various sports and hopefully motivate them to become active as kids and remain active as adults.
"This was a great opportunity for our players to interact with young people in the community," Wolfpack head coach Mary Byrne said. "SAS Institute should be commended for sponsoring this outstanding program. We appreciate being asked to participate. Our players and coaching staff really enjoyed working with the kids."
The NC State volleyball team and the NC State Department of Athletics are committed to community outreach as part of the department's successful and innovative ImPACK program.
