Track Begins Indoor Season

Newport News, Va. - The NC State track & Field squads kicked off their indoor seasons by traveling to Christopher Newport University this past weekend and competing in the Lid Lifter.
Tyrone Dozier, who missed all of last season with a leg injury, returned to form a finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 48.55, while teammates Derrick High took ninth (50.23) and Babatunji Giwa was 17th (50.88). Dozier also captured 17th place in the 60 meters with a time of 7.10, while Joseph Brent took eighth (6.99) and High was 21st (7.15). Brent also finished 10th in the 200 meters with a time of 23.43.
Justin Farmer brought home a first place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 14'06", while Eric Hoverstad was close behind jumping 13'06" to finish third. Brandon Brown recorded a second place finish in the high jump, with a top leap of 6'04". Ryan Furlough also brought home a second place finish, with his in the weight throw (53'09").
NC State will next compete at the Virginia Tech Invite January 19.
