NC State Volleyball To Host Georgia Tech

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State volleyball team will look to snap a two-match losing streak with an Atlantic Coast Conference match vs. Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wolfpack (5-6 overall and 1-3 in the ACC) dropped a pair of conference matches over the weekend at Duke and Wake Forest, but will look to regroup at home, where the Pack is 3-2 for the season.
Senior outside hitter Charece Williams leads the Wolfpack with 166 kills and has a hitting percentage of .241. Williams also leads the team with 104 digs. Senior middle blocker Alison Kreager is second with 98 kills, has a .184 percentage, and leads the team with 31 total blocks. Kreager also ranks fourth on the team with 80 digs.
Maja Pachale leads Georgia Tech with 157 kills and leads the ACC with 4.62 kills per game. Kyleen Bell has 118 kills and a team-high 35 total blocks. The Yellow Jackets have won three in a row and five of their last six.
NC State Volleyball Notebook: NC State trails the series with Georgia Tech by a 20-11 margin. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Wolfpack three times in 2000, including a three-game sweep in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. NC State's last victory over Georgia Tech came during the 1999 season, when the Wolfpack beat the Yellow Jackets twice, taking them 8-15, 15-5, 15-13, 11-15 and 18-16 at Reynolds Coliseum, and 15-10, 7-15, 10-15, 15-6 and 15-11 at Georgia Tech.
* The Georgia Tech match is the first of five straight home matches for NC State. The Wolfpack will host Florida State on Saturday, October 6 at 7 p.m., and Clemson on Sunday, October 7 at 2 p.m. North Carolina will come to Reynolds Coliseum on Wednesday, October 10 at 7 p.m., and Kansas will come to town for a non-conference matchup on Saturday, October 13 at 7 p.m.
* NC State's home match with Appalachian State, originally scheduled for September 11, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 30, at 7 p.m., here at Reynolds Coliseum.
* The three matches NC State had scheduled for the Florida Atlantic Tournament, September 14-15 in Boca Raton, Fla., were cancelled and will not be made up. The Pack was scheduled to play Florida Atlantic, Memphis and Youngstown State in the FAU Tournament.
* Several Wolfpack players rank among the ACC's statistical leaders heading into play this week. Senior outside hitter Charece Williams has 166 kills to rank third in the conference at 4.37 kills per game. Williams is sixth in the ACC in total kills. Freshman setter Lindi Sheppard is second in the conference in service aces with 25 overall and 0.64 per game. Sophomore defensive specialist Caroline Frede ranks 10th in the conference with 0.41 service aces per game. Overall, NC State ranks second in the conference with 2.00 service aces per game.
* With 166 kills thus far this season, Williams has 1,404 career kills and now ranks fourth in NC State history in that category. Lisa Kasper (1989-92) is third all-time with 1,469, and Volire Tisdale (1984-88) is second with 1,598. The Wolfpack's all-time career leader in kills is Laura Kimbrell (1995-98) with 1,969.
* With 31 total blocks through 11 matches this season, senior middle blocker Alison Kreager has 407 total blocks for her career and ranks fifth in team history, just two behind Tennekah Williams (1990-93) for fourth place. Amy Lemmerman (1994-97) is third with 448, and Patty Lake (1986-88) is second in school history with 454 career blocks. Pam Vehling (1986-89) is the Wolfpack's career leader with 497.
* Williams and Kreager earned all-tournament honors in both the IUPUI Tournament and the Outback NC State Wolfpack Classic at Reynolds Coliseum. At the IUPUI Tournament, September 1-2 at Indianapolis, Ind., Williams had 56 kills, 32 digs and a .258 attack percentage in three matches. Kreager had 25 kills, 17 digs and 12 total blocks. In three matches at the Outback Wolfpack Classic, September 7-8 at Reynolds Coliseum, Williams had 51 kills, 27 digs, and a .306 attack percentage. Kreager won MVP honors at the Outback Wolfpack Classic with 28 kills, 30 digs, seven total blocks and a .309 attack percentage.
* In addition to Kreager and Williams, junior outside hitter Rebecca Anderson also earned all-tournament honors at the Outback Wolfpack Classic with 38 kills, 17 digs, four total blocks and a .275 attack percentage in three matches. NC State won the championship at the Outback Wolfpack Classic.
