NC State Tops South Carolina 1-0 In Overtime

Columbia, SC (Sept. 3) - The NC State womens soccer team used another great performance by freshman goalkeeer Kristen Skinner to defeat South Carolina 1-0 on the road Sept. 3 in overtime. Skinner has started the past two games in place of sophomore Gretchen Lear who separated her shoulder in warmups before Fridays contest at College of Charleston.
Wolfpack freshman Carmen Israel blasted the 12-yard game-winning shot past South Carolina goalkeeper Elise Matthews into the left corner of the net at 95:44 in the first overtime. Skinner saved four shots for NC State to secure her second shutout in as many starts. NC State has not allowed a goal in its last 186:07 played.
Israel led the way for the Wolfpack with four shots, while junior midfielder Kelly Blaggie, sophomore midfielder Amy Bary and freshman forward Lindsey Underwood took two shots each.
NC State (2-1) will next travel to UNC Greensboro for a match Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
