Clemson Slips By NC State In ACC Volleyball Opener

The Tigers downed the Pack in five games, 15-17, 15-4, 15-13, 12-15 and 15-10. Clemson improved to 4-8 with the victory, while NC State dropped to 5-7.
Steffes had 15 kills and just three errors, and had a match-high 18 digs to lead the Tigers. Kirtland had 15 kills and 15 digs, and added three assisted blocks, a match high. Setter Jessi Betcher had 47 assists, a service ace, 17 digs and an assisted block for the Tigers.
The Wolfpack was led by Charece Williams with 22 kills and 13 digs. Williams had a solo and an assisted block to go with one service ace. Rebecca Anderson had 13 kills. Senior Meredith Price led the Wolfpack with 16 digs. Freshman setter Crystal Shannon had six kills and just one hitting error in 10 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage. Shannon dished out 70 assists, had two service aces, 11 digs and an assisted block.
The Wolfpack hosts Georgia Tech on Saturday, while the Tigers travel to North Carolina. The NC State-Georgia Tech match will be at 5 p.m.
