Virginia Rallies Past NC State Volleyball In Five Games

RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 20) - Virginia, which lost the first two games of the match, overcame consecutive match points in the fifth game on Oct. 20 to conclude a come-from-behind victory over NC State in an Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball match at Reynolds Coliseum.
The Cavaliers, who won by scores of 7-15, 15-17, 15-11, 15-8 and 16-14, improved to 10-11 overall and 5-5 in the ACC. The Wolfpack fell to 7-15 overall and 1-9 in the conference.
NC State jumped to a 9-4 lead in the fifth and deciding game, appeared to withstand a Virginia rally and took a 14-12 lead. The Cavs won both match points, and then won the match by taking the final four points of the game. Middle hitter Deanna Zwarich led Virginia with 23 kills and six block assists. Outside hitter Paige Davis had 15 kills and a match-high 21 digs.
Junior outside hitter Charece Williams paced NC State with a season-high 30 kills, three service aces and 18 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Rebecca Anderson 18 kills. Senior middle blocker Stephanie Stambaugh had 11 kills, 10 digs and seven block assists.
