NC State started the match with a new sense of confidence following their victory over Maryland the night before. The Pack quickly mounted a 6-2 advantage as the Seminoles seemed out of sink. The Noles soon found themselves down 6-12 but a Coach Reynaud time-out revitalized the team. The gap soon closed to one as the Seminoles rolled off the next five points. Kim Hall countered with a time-out of her own and the Pack responded by tallying the final three points of the game to win, 15-11. NC State freshman Tara Greene had a game high 5 kills in the opening frame.
The second game opened with controversy as Florida State was caught out of rotation. With help from the ensuing side-out, NC State quickly evened the score at 2-2. The Seminoles then settled down and forced Hall to call a time-out as they pulled ahead 5-3. NC State came out of the play stoppage more focused as they soon knotted the contest at 6-6. Eventually, the Seminoles were able to take a 11-8 advantage and force Hall into calling her final time-out of the game. Coach Reynaud took her first time-out of the game with her squad leading 14-10 and they responded by winning the game 15-12. The Pack's Charece Williams led the game with seven kills while FSU's Aisha Thornton had a team high five.
The third game proved to be much closer than the early stages dictated. The Pack quickly jumped out to an early 11-4 advantage, scoring the first nine points of the match and causing the Seminoles to use both of their time-outs. Florida State, however, had plenty of fight left as they soon narrowed the advantage to 12-10. Following Hall's second time-out of the game, the Pack tallied the final three points to win the match, 15-10. NC State once again got a huge performance out of Charece Williams, who led the game with seven kills. NC State middle hitter Stephanie Stambaugh also contributed six kills.
The fourth game saw the Noles force Hall into a time-out with an early 5-2 lead. NC State soon evened up the contest at 6-6 and made Reynaud call for a play stoppage of her own. The Pack kept rolling, however, as Reynaud signaled for her final time-out with the Seminoles down 7-11. NC State would go on to bang out four of the final five points as Kerry Bridenback served up the victorious score.
Up next for the Pack is a rematch with Maryland, who they beat on Friday, in the opening round of the ACC Tournament. The Pack, seeded seventh, and the Terps, seeded eight, will meet on Thursday, November 18, at 5:00 p.m. This season's tournament will be held at the Disney Wild World of Sports located in Orlando, Fl.
