Clemson Defeats Volleyball Squad, 3-0

CLEMSON, SC - (Oct. 5) The Clemson volleyball team, ranked 13th nationally, defeated NC State 3-0 (16-14, 15-4, 15-8) Tuesday night at Jervey Gym. The Tigers pushed their winning streak to 15 matches, tying the Clemson Record set during the 1992 season. Clemson now sports a 15-0 overall record with a 4-0 conference mark while NC State falls to a 10-11 record and is 1-4 in ACC competition this season.

Clemson took an early lead in game one before NC State battled back to tie the match at 14 points apiece. The Tigers took the next two points to win game one, then out hit the Wolfpack .333 to .000 for a 15-4 victory in game two. After several sideouts with Clemson leading 12-8 in game three, the Tigers pulled away for the 15-8 win. The Tigers used the momentum from its close game one victory to clinch the match by winning the next two contests. The Pack's Charece Williams had a team high 12 kills, while hitting for a .308 percentage and collecting 10 digs. Erin Vesey led the Pack in assists with 36.

Senior Alison Coday had 21 kills, six errors and 32 attempts for a .469 hitting percentage. She added ten digs and three service aces for the Tigers. Senior Cindy Stern hit .438 with 18 kills, four errors and 32 attempts. Stern also added ten digs.

NC State will next travel to take on the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech on Friday, October 8. That match will begin at 7:30 pm in Atlanta, Georgia. The Pack will return to Reynolds Coliseum on Tuesday, October 12, when they meet North Carolina. The Pack and the Tar Heels are set to begin at 7:00 pm.
