The win lifted NC State to 7-9-2 on the season, while Louisville fell to 1-17.
Although NC State dominated the game from the outset, the Pack managed just two goals in the first half and led 2-0. Shannon Tully hit the nets with the game's first goal at 7:42, assisted by Colette Seville, and Marsh scored her first goal of the day at the 31:24 mark with an assist from Scott.
The 2-0 lead did not last long after halftime. Senior Shannon Blair capped her exceptional regular season with a goal at 49:30, assisted by Lindsay Rosen. That gave NC State a 3-0 lead, and the Wolfpack then scored three goals in less than four minutes, and four in less than eight minutes to completely put the game away.
The avalanche began when Marsh scored her second goal of the game at 61:46 to make it 4-0. Two minutes and 50 seconds later, Scott took a pass from Sarah Johnson and drilled home a goal to make it 5-0 at 64:36. Senior Barb Lavergne then took an assist from Scott at 65:39 to give the Wolfpack a 6-0 lead.
Carmel Kaplinger temporarily stemmed the NC State flood with a goal for Louisville on a penalty kick at 67:44, but Marsh completed her hat trick with an assist from Melissa Pressley at 69:53 to make it 7-1. Johnson, Lavergne and Jordan Allison each added goals in the final 10 minutes to complete the rout.
The Wolfpack, which had already locked up the sixth seed in the upcoming Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament, will play Wake Forest in the first round Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Chapel Hill.
