NC State Volleyball Loses to Wake Forest

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The NC State volleyball team fell to Wake Forest, 11-15, 5-15, 15-11, 12-15 in Reynolds Coliseum. With the victory, the Demon Deacons move to 13-4 on the season with a 2-2 ACC mark while the Pack falls to 9-10 overall with a 0-3 ACC record.
Alison Kreager paced NC State all evening. Kreager concluded the match with a team high 17 kills while hitting a scorching .593 hitting percentage. Setter Erin Vesy led the team with 59 assists and 10 digs. Freshman Gregg Swanson also logged her first game action of the season.
Wake Forest was lead by Trina Maso de Moya's 20 kills and Katie Horne's 19 kills. For the match Maso do Moya had an amazing .444 hitting percentage.
Wake Forest came out hot in the first game as they took a commanding 12-6 lead. A Wolfpack rally moved the score to 11-13 before the Deacs took the final two points of the game.
In the next game, Wake Forest kept its momentum as the team jumped out to a 9-1 lead. NC State was unable to hold off the Deacs in this contest as they quickly fell 15-5. With the victory Wake held a two game advantage.
The fourth game saw the Pack take an 8-3 advantage before the Deacons rallied to move to with in two points at 10-8. NC State would squander three game points before disposing of Wake Forest 15-11.
The final game was a heated contest as neither team would hold larger than a three-point advantage. NC State and Wake Forest would trade point for point until the game stood at an 11-11 stalemate. Following a time out by the Deacs head coach, Mary Buczek, Wake Forest started on a roll that saw them win the game by taking five on the games next six points.
The Pack will face off against ACC foe Duke tomorrow. That match will take place at 5:00 pm in Reynolds Coliseum. The next match after Duke will be in Clemson against the national powerhouse Tigers on Tuesday.
NC State (9-10, 0-3) was defeated by Wake Forest (13-4, 2-2): 11-15, 5-15, 15-11, 12-15.
