Dr. Simon Melcher has served the student athletes at NC State since 2011 as the team dentist. He has been a lifelong NC State fan and received his undergraduate degree in Biological Science in 1999. Since completing his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at UNC- Chapel Hill in 2003, he has maintained a private dental practice in Raleigh, providing general dental care and specializing in dental implants.
Dr. Melcher is honored to be able to use his skills and expertise to give back to his alma- mater, and enjoys working closely with the Athletic Trainers and Sports Medicine staff to ensure that each athlete is given the highest level of care.
Dr. Melcher was the 2003 recipient of the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics Award of Excellence. Since graduation, Dr. Melcher has pursued extensive training in dental implantology, soft and hard tissue grafting, and TMJ therapy. He is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, and the North Carolina Dental Society.
Dr. Melcher and his wife are both from Raleigh and reside in Apex. They have two children: Eli and Maggie.
