Leo Durkin
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant Coach
NC State volleyball head coach Luka Slabe completed the 2020 coaching staff with the addition of Leo Durkin.
Â
In joining the Wolfpack, Durkin reunites with one of his former collegiate coaches, Slabe, who coached at BYU from 2015-18.
Â
"I am delighted to have Leo joining our Pack," said Slabe. "I was very fortunate to coach Leo for three seasons while at BYU. As a setter, he led our team to three consecutive NCAA Final Fours. Leo has always been an exemplary student, athlete, teammate and friend. We just made our Pack stronger with the addition of another learner, hard worker and man of high character."
Â
A talented and accomplished athlete himself, Durkin played collegiately at BYU where he helped lead the Cougars to three consecutive NCAA Final Fours. Durkin earned three consecutive AVCA All-America honors in addition to MPSF All-Academic accolades. His 3,282 career assists rank second in BYU rally-scoring program history and fifth all-time.
Â
"I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of an incredible coaching staff," said Durkin. "I am thrilled to work alongside Luka again, this time as a coach!"
Â
Since graduating from BYU, Durkin has played professionally for SVG Lüneburg in Germany and worked for a nationwide pest control company, Aptive Environmental.
