Kevin Maureen Campbell recently concluded her fourth season with the Wolfpack and second as associate head coach, after receiving the promotion in the spring of 2017. She coordinates the team's defense and works with the liberos, in addition to serving as the program's recruiting coordinator and academics liaison.
In all four seasons with Campbell on the staff, NC State has ranked in the top five among ACC teams in digs per set.
In 2019, the Wolfpack ranked third in the ACC following the regular-season with 14.78 digs per set and led the conference with 1,818 total digs. Under Campbell's guidance, first-year libero Kaylee Frazier ranked second in the ACC with 4.28 digs per set and set multiple program records, including a rally-scoring record 38 digs against Duke.Â
The 2018 season saw the Wolfpack sweep North Carolina for the first time since 1991, in addition to earning its first-ever season sweep against Notre Dame. NC State finished second in the ACC in digs per set as a team.Â
Â
With her guidance, NC State returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2017 for the first time since 2012 and the Wolfpack earned its first win in the NCAA Championship in program history with a 3-2 victory against Oregon State.
Â
NC State recorded a program record 15 ACC wins in 2017, headlined by a perfect 10-0 record in ACC home matches for the first time in program history. The Wolfpack had the best start in conference place in the history of the program, going 8-0, and was first or tied for first in the ACC in eight of the 10 weeks of league play. Primarily responsible for the Wolfpack’s defense, Campbell helped the squad break the rally-scoring era program record with 106 digs in a five-set match at Notre Dame.
"I'm extremely grateful for Kevin's service to this program and her commitment to create a quality experience for each of our athletes over the course of our first year," said Hampton-Keith in 2018. "Her tireless efforts are appreciated and embody the characteristics we value in our program."
"I feel so privileged to be able to work here at NC State," Campbell added. "Our volleyball staff is incredible and I feel very grateful to be here. I feel empowered by Linda in this new role and I'm incredibly grateful to her because she helps me be a better leader.
Â
"It's an awesome environment to grow as a coach."
With Campbell's expertise, NC State finished fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2016 with 15.57 digs per set – the second-best average in the program's rally-scoring era. The Pack's 1,900 digs for the season ranks as the second most for a single season during the rally-scoring era.
Â
Additionally, senior Rachel Eppley ranked among the top-10 in the conference a season ago with 4.20 digs per set and second in NC State single-season history in the rally-scoring era.
Â
The Wolfpack held opponents to an attacking percentage less than .200 in 14 matches during the season, headlined by four matches less than .100.
Â
Campbell came to NC State following a two-year stint as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at San Diego State where she worked with the Aztecs' middle blockers and defensive systems while also overseeing all recruiting efforts.
