Ronny Fisher joined the NC State women’s basketball staff ahead of the 2026-27 season as the director of player development/operations. Fisher brings in 35+ years of coaching experience, including 18 as an NCAA DI head coach.
Fisher is a three-time conference Coach of the Year, and in 18 seasons as a head coach, he has accumulated a 291-259 overall record and 194-115 mark at Campbell.
Fisher averaged 19 wins per season at Campbell with six 20-win campaigns. He led Campbell to the 2019-20 and 2021-22 Big South regular season titles and the Big South Tournament runner-up showings in 2019, 2021 and 2022. Fisher led the Camels to its first WNIT berth in program history in 2025 and with a win over Coastal Carolina, he directed the Camels to its third postseason tournament win in school history. He is responsible for all three postseason tournament wins in Campbell women’s basketball history.
A big part of what Fisher’s teams were known for is tough, relentless defense. The Fighting Camels consistently ranked in the top 10 in several defensive statistical categories each season. In 2016-17 when Fisher was named Big South Coach of the Year, his team led the nation in scoring defense after holding opponents to 49.6 points per game. Campbell was also the only program in the nation to rank in the top 25 in scoring defense in nine of the past 10 seasons. Over his 10-year campaign at Campbell, Fisher’s teams held 43 opponents to 40 points or less.
Prior to taking the job in Buies Creek, Fisher was the head coach at Presbyterian College for eight seasons from 2008-16, earning winning seasons in three of his last four years with the Blue Hose. He was named the 2012-13 Big South Coach of the Year and led the team to a postseason berth in the WBI.
Fisher was an assistant and associate head coach for the Presbyterian men’s basketball program for 11 seasons, helping in the transition from Division II to Division I. He also previously served as an assistant coach at North Greenville and was the head coach at Conway (S.C.) High School, where his team reached the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
The Fairview, North Carolina native graduated from Furman in 1990, where he served as a student assistant coach for the men’s basketball program. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in physical education in 1990. Fisher is married to the former Julie Dickert, who played basketball at Charleston Southern. The couple has two sons, Harrison and Jake, and a daughter, Sydney.
