Preston Long joined the NC State softball staff in Jan. 2021 as the Director of Softball Operations. Long joins the Wolfpack following a five-year stint with the South Carolina softball program where he served as an undergraduate manager and graduate assistant. He will be responsible for all of the day-to-day operations for the NC State softball team and video management.

While at South Carolina, Long assisted in day-to-day team operations including ordering of equipment, video capture, cutting and tagging of film and compiling analytics reports for the coaching staff. He also helped coordinate team travel, team meals and the team budget.

"I am so excited for this chance with NC State Softball and the amazing staff here in Raleigh," said Long. "I want to thank the coachign staff for trusting me with this opportunity and for welcoming me with open arms into their Pack. Living my whole life outside of Raleigh, I grew up around the softball field and have been coming to Dail Softball Stadium for years. Getting to know some of the great talents that have come through this program has been exciting for me, and getting to be a part of the next wave of success with Wolfpack Softball is so humbling and exciting. NC State Softball is on the rise and I can not wait to be a part of it!"

Long is extremely familiar with the NC State Softball program after working with various Wolfpack alums who have served on the South Carolina coaching staff, including Renada Davis and Healther Gelbard. Addtionally, Long has experience working with Lisa Navas (NC State Head Coach 2003-12) and current NC State assistant coach, Chelsea Wilkinson.

Long graduated with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Criminolgy from South Carolina in May 2018 in addition to his Master's of Sport and Entertainment Management in May 2020.

Originally from Apex, N.C., Long's father is an NC State alum and his mother attended Meredith College.
