As a Freshman (Fall 2021): Made 12 starts in as many appearances in her first season with the Pack…Missed time due to injury and spending time with the German national team…Played the full 90 minutes on three separate occasions (vs. No. 3 UNC, at Wake Forest and at No. 22 South Florida in the NCAA First Round), played a combined 919 minutes on the year…Played a significant role on the back line in five of the team’s six shutout wins on the year.
Prior to NC State: Zimmer arrives in the US from German club FSV Gutersloh where, at age 16, played in DFB Pokal game against VfL Wolfsburg in June 2020. Additionally, she has been a member of the U17 National Team program, representing Germany versus Spain in UEFA U17 qualifying in March 2020.
Santoro on Zimmer: “Nina is a high-level defender. She’s fast, strong and tenacious, but has great attacking instincts from being an attacker early in her career.
