Takayo Siddle joined NC State as an assistant coach in March of 2017.
Siddle is no stranger to Keatts as he played for him at Hargrave Military Academy and was an assistant coach under him at Hargrave as well.
Siddle has now been an assistant coach under Keatts for all six seasons Keatts has been a DI head coach.
Working with the guards, Siddle has helped develop one of the best offensive attacks in the ACC. NC State has averaged over 80 points per game in both seasons Siddle has been with the Pack. Prior to the last two seasons, the last NC State team to average over 80 points per game in a season was the 1995-96 team.
The Pack has been prolific from long-range the last two season. In 2018-19, NC State hit 292 three-pointers, the second-most in program history. The 2017-18 NC State team set a program record when it hit a 19 three-pointers in a win over Jacksonville.
Siddle has also played a major hand in the individual development of NC State’s guards. Markell Johnson led the ACC in assists in Siddle’s first season on staff and last season Johnson showed off his improved stroke as he shot 42% from three-point range for the season and is the ACC’s top returning three-point field goal percentage shooter for the 2019-20 season.
Junior guard Braxton Beverly has hit 136 three-pointers in his first two seasons, the most of any NC State player in program history through their sophomore season.
Siddle was part of a staff that went 72-28 in three years at UNC-Wilmington as the Seahawks advanced to the postseason all three seasons, including two NCAA tournament appearances.
Siddle joined the UNCW program in the summer of 2014 after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Gardner-Webb. He was hired as an assistant coach at GWU by first-year head coach, and current Butler head coach, Chris Holtmann, an assistant coach at Gardner-Webb during Siddle’s freshman and sophomore years as a Bulldog.
He arrived at GWU in 2010 following one season at Hargrave Military Academy, where Keatts was the head coach for 10 seasons.
In Siddle’s year at Hargrave, the Tigers had 12 players sign NCAA Division I scholarships, including five in the ACC, SEC, Big East and Big Ten.
A native of Eden, N.C., Siddle played four seasons for the Bulldogs from 2005-09, appearing in 114 games. He played in 21 games during his freshman year when GWU upset Minnesota and East Carolina on the road and took defending national champion North Carolina to the final buzzer.
In 2006-07, he started all 30 games for Gardner-Webb as a sophomore and averaged a career-best 8.6 points per game with 104 assists.
As a junior in 2007-08, Siddle played in 32 games and helped Gardner-Webb beat No. 20 Kentucky at Rupp Arena and advance to the final four of the 2007 2K Sports College Hoops Classic in Madison Square Garden.
He was a prep standout for Coach John Harder at Morehead High School in Eden, where he averaged 27.0 points, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals.
Siddle graduated from Gardner-Webb in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology.
