A solid competitor who is working to give the Wolfpack depth on the baseline … A diligent worker on the practice court, he has shown continual improvement … A non-scholarship athlete, he was redshirted during the 1992-93 season.
Sophomore Season: Billy played in eight games, averaging 2.3 points and 1.8 rebounds per appearance … Each of his appearances came in a reserve role … Posted career highs of six points and six rebounds during a career-high 11-minute stint against Winthrop … Made three of four field-goal attempts against Winthrop.
Redshirt Freshman Year: Played in 14 games for the Pack, coming off the bench each time … He scored seven points, hitting three of eight shots, and pulled down four rebounds … His first career field goal came against Duke when Greg Newton was called for goaltending on Billy’s short shot … Ironically, his first high school field goal came on a goaltending call against former NCSU teammate Bryant Feggins when Billy played for Page High and Feggins played for Glenn High.
Freshman Year: Redshirted during the 1992-93 season, spending the year practicing against the likes of Kevin Thompson and Todd Fuller.
High School Career: the leading scorer on his Page High team, averaging 17.2 points while pulling in 9.0 rebounds per game … Page posted a 25-2 record and was ranked No. 3 in the state … Named the Metro 4-A Conference Player of the Year, All-Guilford County and earned honorable mention all-state recognition … Was selected for the North Carolina East-West All-Star Classic, where he posted eight points and seven rebounds … Sustained a shoulder injury during his junior season which required surgery in January of 1991 … Played for the undefeated 1990 state 4-A championship Page team (31-0) that included former Wolfpack forward Marc Lewis.
Personal: Majoring in textile management … Bill, Jr. joined the Wolfpack more than 20 years after his father, Bill, played for the Wolfpack … Bill Sr. began his college career on the Wolfpack freshman squad during the 1964-65 campaign and was the leading scorer when a young coach named Les Robinson inherited the freshman team early in the season … Bill Sr. went on to play on two ACC championship teams with the Wolfpack and led the NCSU varsity in scoring and rebounding as a junior during the 1966-67 campaign … Born on February 8, 1974.
