DEFENSIVE BACKS
EDUCATION:
Earned a degree in digital media & web technology from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2020. Earned his master’s degree from NC State in liberal studies in 2023.
PERSONAL DATA:
A native of Ellenwood, Ga., he and his wife, Vantreese, have a son, Kyrie (4) Before his coaching career, Hodges served as a Cryptologic Technician (Collection) First Class in the United States Navy, serving tours onboard USS Chosin (CG-65) stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (2010-2013), Navy Information Operations Command Hawaii (2013-2016) and United States Cyber Command in Fort Meade, Md. (2016-2019). He was a two-time recipient of the Joint Service Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal.
BOWL EXPERIENCE:
- NC State: 2023 Pop-Tarts Bowl, 2022 Duke’s Mayo Bowl
COACHING EXPERIENCE:
- Joined the Wolfpack staff in 2022 and worked with the linebackers that season. Began coaching defensive backs in 2023.
- Spent the 2021 season as a graduate assistant at Duke, where he worked with the Blue Devil safeties.
- In 2020, served as a defensive quality control assistant at Eastern Illinois University. During his tenure with the Panthers, he helped coach the defensive line and outside linebackers.
- Served a short stint as a recruiting assistant at the University of Maryland during the spring of 2020, helping assemble a top-20 recruiting class with strong ties to the Baltimore, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas.
- In 2019, was the defensive backs coach at James Blake High School in Silver Spring, Md.
