A former starting center for the Wolfpack, Joe Scelfo returned to NC State as a graduate assistant in the Spring of 2018.
Scelfo originally joined the Wolfpack football program for the 2016 season as a graduate transfer from South Alabama. In his one season with the Pack, he started all 13 games and played 99% of the squad’s offensive snaps. He led NC State with 51 knockdown blocks and was named Most Valuable Offensive Lineman.
Prior to his NC State playing career, Scelfo was a three-year starter at South Alabama. In his final season in 2015, he was named first-team all-Sun Belt Conference.
During his collegiate career, Scelfo started all 49 of his games played.
Originally from Bogart, Ga., Scelfo was a first-team 2A all-state selection and rated the No. 12 center nationally coming out of high school. His father, Chris, served as both a head and assistant coach at the collegiate level and well as serving as an assistant in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons from 2008-14.
He earned his undergrad degree from South Alabama in leisure studies in 2016.
